Netflix, one of the most popular online streaming videos platform, and the Roald Dahl Story Company has signed up a deal to create an animated “event series”. The “Event Series” will comprise the works of Roald Dahl stories like Charlie and the chocolate factory, The BFG and Matilda. The deal is signed with the late author’s family.
The series will also include the other works of Roald Dahl such as Willy Wonka and the Oompa-Loompas, The Twits and many more of his works. The partnership with Netflix will be a big platform for the Roald Dahl story company and in this way it will reach to the large audience worldwide.
With this “event series” Netflix also said that it will be much more like the original Roald Dal works but the storyline may vary a little considering its audience.
Netflix, which is considering itself much more into its original series has now been moving towards the children’s programming area. We can say that this is one of the best move of Netflix considering the children audience size.
The Roald Dahl story company has all the copyrights and trademarks of his works. Netflix is always known for its high quality and innovative original series. There is no other platform which can do a great work with these stories and produce something which can be enjoyed with the whole family.
Dahl’s stories have already become a blockbuster hits on the big screen. The author has already sold more than 200 million copies in more than 58 languages and is very popular among the children.
The author’s widow, Felicity Dahl, said it was “an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Roald Dahl Story Company.” She further added: “Roald would, I know, be thrilled.”
The first series will go into production in 2019. There will be threads which will be connecting all the series.
